Deutschland!

This semester I am researching Germany, and sharing what I find with you, my readers.

I have come to love Germany. I lived there for almost 4 months and absolutely fell in love with the language, the people, the culture, and the beautiful country.

A few things to share with you as I begin my research:

According to Wikipedia, Germany is primarily Christian (30% Catholic, 29.9% Protestant). I would argue, however, that this demographic is more of something people identify themselves with rather than committed and practicing Christians.

They are a major exporter of automobiles (Like Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen) and railway vehicles.

One of my personal favorite German dishes is Käse Spätzle. It is amazing. Cheesy. Noodley. And looks like this:

As many know, Germany is known for its beer. Fun fact! There are beer production laws that maintain the pure 'German beer' quality.

Germany's official language is German.

80% of the inhabitants of Germany are ethnically German.

Heidelberg is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany and is, my personal favorite. This beautiful city is where I lived during my time in Germany.
The picture below is a view from the castle.

The next picture is a view of Altstadt (the old part of the city).

Computers on Crack

On the topic of morality and computers:
As people, undeniably, have morals, it makes sense that a standard could be set for computer usage. To my knowledge, there is currently no written standard for such things, but it may be helpful to have one.
Most people are against stealing--at least being stole from. Therefore, it would be quite useful for a standard to be set in place. It may or may encourage people to follow that standard, but it would be a start. That standard could include giving credit where credit is due, not stealing programs or music or the like, etc.
Our legal system, in having a constitution, does not directly define what is right and wrong, but it certainly wishes to uphold the well-being of its citizens... including software companies, musicians, etc. Therefore, I would argue that it does at least hold to fair trade and commerce.

Side note:
Did you know that super computers are like mainframe computers "on crack?"

Also, did you know that computers must stay cold to keep from overheating? My fiancee works at a web design company named Liferay and we were just talking about this today... how cold it is at work because the computers are temperamental.
